Our Unique Approach
Healers have called soul forth using feminine ways of knowing and being since ancient times. Living from the soul and healing soul suffering through ritual, plant medicine, storytelling, movement, sound, silence, dreams and community is a reclaiming and revival of our lost arts.
Soul Midwives are guardians of the threshold, wise guides and wild alchemists; versed in the ‘old ways’ and the innovations that occur when practiced in an ever changing world. Weaving together the best of worlds in a holistic, sacred approach we work with people where they are at – listening for their ‘gold’ and threshold moments of transformation that reach far beyond change. As clinicians, we are trained in multiple disciplines which are practiced inside of a transpersonal framework because the work of Soul Midwives includes understandings of birth and death, layers of consciousness, energy fields, states of being, and the integral health of body/psyche/world.
We emphasize the development of deep feminine liberatory skills that will become the foundation of your living, being as well as healing arts practice. These skills have their own lineages and global historical contexts, so a part of our clinical education involves unlearning the enculturation of patriarchal and Eurocentric medical model frameworks. We will also explore the intersection of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy (among others) with creative arts approaches, somatic focusing, trauma informed approaches, ecopsychology, indigenous and shamanic healing methods.
